There was a lady who decided to visit a church. She had passed by it many times and the people coming out looked so happy and at peace; but the parking lot was never filled. One Sunday she made up her mind to go. Once inside she took a seat. Moments later the pastor called up 2 people. To the person standing on the right he said to her, “give me your entire pay check or the person standing up here with you is going to hell”. Then before the lady could answer/respond the pastor went on tell a long list the things wrong that this other person had done all their life. The latest wrong doing was just the night before. One o the churches’ missionaries was outside the police station last night witnessing to people and inviting them to church so the person being sent to hell decided to come to church and turn his life over to God. Once the pastor stopped talking the lady finally responded. She said this is the same guy who robbed and shot me a year ago. With tears o passion in her eyes she lovingly handed the pastor her entire check. She said if my giving will help one person get to heaven you can have my check. God is my true provider not this check. She smiled wiped her eyes and returned to her seat. As she walked back she felt as though weights were falling off of her. She felt so free and so much joy.
Sometimes our blessings come through giving to others, just as when we pay our tithes unto the church or God’s work to be seen outside of the walls of the church so that we may bring others in. The bible says that the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. We should give unto others when we see our brother in need regardless of their sins because none of us is without sin.
What would you do? What would Jesus do?
